The ideal solution for volume loss in the face as well as softening fine lines

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are the non-surgical treatment method for facial rejuvenation.

They help to volumize the desired areas and deep lines or wrinkles to reduce the appearance of ageing.

These injections of soft-tissue fillers are generally injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume into the lips, cheeks or beneath the eyes or to enhance facial contours.

Dermal fillers such as Teosyal, Juvederm and Restylane are used to plump out and to smooth more permanent/ static wrinkles that are created as a result of a loss of elasticity of the skin. These facial fillers are also used to treat facial creases and indented scars formed from acne or chickenpox.

We only use accredited products which are proven to be safe and effective.

What are fillers?

Dermal fillers are tiny injections of gel, comprised of Hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance found throughout your body which provides the skin with elasticity, volume and hydration. As we get older our bodies produce less HA and, as a result, wrinkles, folds and an overall ‘tired’ appearance can be observed.

How long do fillers last and why should you have the treatments?

Over time our body stops producing collagen and elastin, both of which contribute to a youthful appearance. We start losing collagen generally at the age of 25. The collagen and elastin level decreases at a rate of 2% per year, and the body will have stopped producing it altogether by your late twenties or early thirties which results into the sign of ageing such as wrinkles, fine lines, creases. At this point dermal facial fillers (HA) can be user to restore volume and hydration, whilst helping to regenerate the body’s own collagen production (neocollagenesis).

How long do fillers last? It depends on how your body reacts and which hyaluronic acid is used, but the effects of most of the dermal fillers last between 6 to 18 months. There are two different kind of dermal fillers and most common hyaluronic acids are, one is called Juvederm, and the other dermal filler is called Restylane or Perlane. Restylane and Perlane last between 6 months and 1 year, However, Juvederm Voluma XC has been clinically proven to last up to 2 years.

The Treatment

Dermal filler treatments usually take 20-40 minutes and the quantity of dermal filler required depends on the level of volume loss and the areas you want treated. After a consultation and assessment, keeping in mind your anatomy and your goals, your Doctor will inject Hyaluronic Acid, with an ultra-fine needle, after applying topical numbing cream if required. In some cases, a local anaesthetic is used, but many dermal fillers contain anaesthetic. When the dermal filler is injected into the skin, the hyaluronic acid volumizes, softens and hydrates the skin. It also promotes the production of collagen and elastin underneath the skin which gives the skin a more youthful texture

At MK Aesthetics, we offer dermal fillers with a stabilized form of HA, which is biocompatible with your skin. It is synthetically made which means there are no ingredients derived from animals or humans. A trained professional will inject small quantities of the filler into a wrinkle, or area in which volume is desired, to smooth/plump it out. Dermal fillers are approved by the FDA, and are minimally invasive and, when performed by an experienced and trained practitioner are safe.
