Frequently Asked Questions

Why get Medical cosmetic treatments done by a doctor?

The Independent Health Advisory Service (IHAS) have stated that only medical professionals will be covered by their standards to carry out these treatments. These are all medical treatments and should be treated as such. A doctor has a full working knowledge of your anatomy.

If administered incorrectly, these procedures can have adverse and life threatening consequences. While risks are minimal they should not be taken lightly. There are steps which can be taken to minimise this but a thorough medical knowledge and experience of the doctor. The doctor is also able to deal with any possible side effects or emergency situations should they arise. The doctor can also provide you with a prescription for appropriate medication if necessary.

Does the doctor have insurance?

MK Aesthetics is fully insured, by Hamilton Fraser insurance services, to carry out the whole range of treatments that we provide whether it is in your home or at one of our clinics. This protects both ourselves and you, the client.

Why choose MK Aesthetics ?

MK Aesthetics treats each client as an individual and assess their needs thoroughly before any treatment takes place.

A medical history of our clients is obtained before we go ahead with any treatments and a full discussion is carried out so that you are well informed before opting to have any treatments. We also go through a standard, approved consent form with our clients which is signed before the cosmetic treatment is carried out.

Wrinkle Relaxing Injections FAQ

Does the injection hurt?

Because the needle is so fine and such small substance quantities are used, the pain is minimal and no sedation or local anaesthesia is required. You may experience some itching over the treated area immediately after treatment. You can resume normal activities immediately.

Is there any danger?

No, Botox® injections have been used safely and effectively for over ten years to treat many ophthalmological and neurological disorders. Each year thousands of patients receive Botox® treatments for a variety of conditions and it is quickly becoming a popular treatment for reversing the visible sign of ageing.

How long will it last?

The improvement you will achieve from the procedure will last anywhere up to 6 months. You will notice a gradual fading of its effect at which point, you may return for a new treatment. The early clinical studies indicate that the duration of treatment benefits is increased over time so that you should require injections less frequently in the future. Also, the duration of effect varies from patient to patient and may be less effective for those over 65 years of age.

Are there any side effects?

Botox® is used in such small quantities that is not harmful. The most common side effects are temporary and localised bruising, slight redness of the skin and occasionally slight swelling at the injection site. Because the effects of Botox® are completely reversible, any side effects are temporary, lasting only a few hours or up to one or two days. Botox® doesn' t affect the nerve which supplies sensation, so there is no numbness in the area of the injection. Also, the effect of the Botox® is only in the immediate area of the injection site and so the muscles related to other expressions are unaffected.

How will I look afterwards?

The results are amazing. it may take two to three days to see an improvement and up to one week to see the overall effects. Then the skin will appear smooth and even showing a youthful glowing appearance. Now you can smile again with confidence.
